My Story Unplugged

Hi - I’m Claire, a multi-passionate interior designer

And educator, explorer, wife, loyal friend, amateur chef and wanna-be dog mum.

The design world constantly challenges us to keep up with the latest trends, bold colour palettes, and innovative space solutions. And my dear friend, this is a challenge that I wholeheartedly embrace!

But there's one challenge I never opt for—enduring the tediousness and sometimes never-ending mundane chores. If that sounds like you, you are well and truly heard, felt and understood over here.

One day, I had an epiphany. I realised that there was no way to bypass or avoid these tasks for the rest of my life; I had to face them head-on. And by golly, I was determined to make the journey through them a positive and rewarding experience.

So I went and studied how spaces impact our lived experiences, motivation, emotions and actions - they called this degree Interior Architecture.

Welcoming Effortless Living

At the heart of it all, I just want to make the tedious, mundane but must-do aspects of life effortless, and the enjoyable, fun, cup-fulfilling aspects, well, effortless too.

Through my personal struggles and triumphs, I discovered what I believe to be the true secret to attaining this. Designing in detail. I came to realise that hardness persists when thoughtful design is absent, while easiness thrives in the meticulous details of those thoughtful designs.

Boy was I wrong! (well half wrong). I had missed the most important half of the equation.

What did I miss?

After working for a short time at an award-winning International Architecture firm, it became evident to me that resolving the challenges each of us encounters cannot be accomplished solely from behind a desk, no matter how ‘thoughtful’ the design was.

It had to be done in deep conversation with the person(s) it was for. Solving real problems, was about deeply understanding every step, every struggle and every smile of the person who uses the space. I knew I had found the true recipe for jaw-dropping design.

Let the transformation begin.

With my newfound discovery of how to truly enhance people's lives, I established my own boutique design studio.

It is within this creative haven that I have the privilege to offer unparalleled care, sincerity and thoughtful design solutions to individuals, like yourself, who face genuine, distinctive, and occasionally sensitive challenges. Here, I am able to redefine spaces for improved living experiences, liberating you from the burdens of energy-draining life admin, and giving you more opportunities to immerse yourself in the thrilling, welcoming, and truly extraordinary moments that life has to offer.

Last Name Shenanigans

Designing a home that fits like a glove means sharing about yourself, and it sure feels easier, when the person you’re sharing with shares too.

Just because someone else does it, doesn’t mean it's a good fit for you. That’s why my husband and I decided to blend our last names.‘Meyer’ from him and ‘Halford’ from me.

And that’s how I became a Meyford.

A Masters in Heritage and a Thesis on ADHD

With my imminent completion of a double Masters in Cultural World Heritage and a thesis focusing on ADHD and environmental impacts, I am passionate about creating designs that prioritise inclusivity and cater to the specific needs of individuals.

Through my research, I have gained valuable insights that inform my approach to design, ensuring that the spaces I create enhance the overall well-being of all users.

Kids inspire Bright Futures

As a designer, I draw inspiration from everywhere, including my extensive work with kids. For over 7 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of children the beautiful sport of netball and led outdoor journeys of hiking, rafting, and camping.

Through these experiences, I have witnessed the wonders of our planet and the limitless potential of our bodies and minds.

This unique perspective has fuelled my passion for creating designs that inspire and empower all members of the family.

I am dedicated to crafting spaces that inspire imagination, promote exploration, and encourage meaningful connections.
